Monitor and optimise industrial crystallisation

Issue
The unit operation of crystallisation consists of isolating a product in the form of crystals. It is a complex operation, but economically vital for the chemical industry.

Goal
Develop innovative service offers for industrial batch and continuous crystallisation in order to:

Optimise crystallisers and increase the reliability of the operation
Facilitate the maintenance of crystallisation installations

Approach
To combine complementary skills within a consortium of companies and laboratories having a strong expertise in industrial crystallisation.

R&D steps

Develop acoustic sensors, in addition to "classical" sensors, to ensure mechanical monitoring of equipment
Develop and implement online analysis tools to access solid state characteristics
Use a digital twin to compare real data, optimise processes and carry out preventive maintenance

The project started on September 2018 and will end in September 2023.

Alongside INEVO, the company OPTIMISTIK and the laboratories SPIN, LAGEPP and AXEL'ONE ANALYSIS are participating in this project.

INEVO brings all its expertise in process and contributes to the project by several developments, in particular, simulation tools for crystallisation installations. We are supported by well-known industrial partners who trust us and allowed us to work on their processes.
